About Ms. Motto

Hello! My name is Ms. Motto and I am your child's Music Teacher. I graduated from Illinois State University (GO REDBIRDS!) with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education in December of 2011. I have been working at Erickson Elementary since August 2012 and I am enjoying every minute of it! In addition to teaching music, I also direct the 4th Grade Choir and the 5th Grade Musical at Erickson. At Westfield, I coach the 6th Grade Boy's Basketball team. I feel very blessed to be part of such a wonderful district that supports and provides endless opportunities for our students.

My previous experiences include teaching Choir and directing the musical, "Annie Get Your Gun" at Marian Catholic High School in January of 2012 as well as being a Youth Camp Counselor since 2008.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going swimming, running, and playing basketball. I love watching and attending sport's games especially to see the White Sox and Green Bay Packers!

My Teaching Philosophy

In my classroom, students will be learning not only music but also lifelong skills. Daily activities and presentations will build communication, creativity, independence, organizational and collaboration skills. Analyzing and learning music will develop critical thinking skills, an understanding of different cultures, and enhance other academic subjects. Utilizing technology and media will improve students’ knowledge and further their individual skills. Through evaluations, students will receive feedback and guidance to ensure further progress. Our classroom environment will be safe, positive, and inclusive. It will be one that provides endless opportunities to each student, appeals to every type of learner, and leaves no child behind.
